The basics

What is 3D puff embroidery digitizing?

3D puff embroidery adds a thin layer of foam under the top stitches. The needle stitches over the foam, so the design rises off the fabric and gives a bold, three dimensional look.

The effect only works with a puff-ready file. A standard logo file does not tell the machine how to cover the foam, so the edges tear and the foam shows through. A digitizer must build the file with the right stitch type, density and order.

Puff embroidery works best on caps, beanies and thick fabrics. It suits big letters, simple shapes and bold logos. Tiny text and fine lines do not work well, so we adjust your design to fit the style.

What is 3D puff embroidery?

3D puff embroidery stitches over a thin foam layer, so the design rises off the fabric. It gives caps and hats a bold, raised look.

Which designs work best for 3D puff?

Bold letters, simple shapes and blocky logos work best. Thin lines and tiny text do not cover foam well, so we adjust them.

Can any logo become a puff file?

Most logos work after we simplify them. We tell you if a detail is too small and suggest a clean change before we digitize.

Which garments suit 3D puff?

Caps and hats are the most common choice. Beanies and thick jackets also work. Thin or stretchy fabrics are harder.

How much does puff digitizing cost?

Flat-rate designs run from $10 to $50 based on size. Stitch-based pricing is $1.50 per 1,000 stitches. Send your artwork for an exact quote.

Which file formats do you provide?

We provide DST, PES, JEF, EXP, EMB, VP3 and more. Tell us your machine model and we match the format.
